Airlangga to Expand MSME Financing Target to IDR 2,000 Trillion
Coordinating Minister for Economic Affairs Airlangga Hartarto has announced plans to increase the financing target for micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs) from IDR 1,500 trillion to IDR 2,000 trillion. Speaking at the UMKM Finance Summit 2026 hosted by the Financial Services Authority (OJK) in Jakarta on Tuesday, Airlangga stated that the expansion aims to broaden access to financing, particularly for businesses that are currently underserved or lack adequate funding. He noted that this step is crucial to help mid-tier MSMEs scale up their operations. The minister also emphasised that the government is promoting digitalisation and the use of artificial intelligence (AI) as key levers for MSME development, arguing that with 54 million MSME actors, technology is essential for effective business management.
