Airlangga to Discuss Stimulus for Plastic-Using Industries, See the Plan

Coordinating Minister for the Economy, Airlangga Hartarto, stated that the government will discuss fiscal support or stimulus for plastic-using industries at a meeting to be held on Tuesday, 28 April 2026. He assured that the meeting will serve as a forum for the government to formulate responses to issues impeding the business world, including cost pressures from the recent surge in plastic prices. “Tomorrow (Tuesday), we will discuss it, a meeting with the task force here. The National Economic Acceleration Task Force, including debottlenecking,” said Airlangga at the Coordinating Ministry for the Economy office in Jakarta on Monday, 27 April 2026. Nevertheless, Airlangga refrained from detailing the form of stimulus the government will prepare, promising that further details will be provided after tomorrow’s meeting. “Wait, it will only be discussed tomorrow,” he said. Previously, President Prabowo Subianto formed the Task Force for Accelerating Government Programmes to support increased economic growth. The task force is led by Coordinating Minister for the Economy Airlangga Hartarto as Chair I and State Secretary Minister Prasetyo Hadi as Chair II. The establishment of the task force was set through Presidential Decree Number 4 of 2026 on the Task Force for Accelerating Government Programmes to Support Increased Economic Growth. The task force has the duty to coordinate the acceleration of government programme implementation to support increased economic growth, which includes, among others, the Economic Package Programme and the Economic Stimulus Programme. Then, Government Priority Programmes, Main Programmes in several ministries/institutions, and other programmes based on the President’s directives. In addition, the task force is tasked with establishing integrated and collaborative strategic steps for accelerating the implementation of government programmes to support increased economic growth, conducting monitoring and evaluation of the realisation of budgets supporting government programme implementation. Furthermore, establishing breakthrough strategic problem-solving steps that are quick and precise.
