Airlangga to Complete Formation of the National Council for Financial Well-being Soon, Here Is Its Purpose

Jakarta — The Coordinating Minister for Economic Affairs, Airlangga Hartarto, said the government would strengthen policies related to financial inclusion to boost financial literacy among the public and create tangible financial well-being for them. In his remarks at the Aksi Kuatkan Literasi dan Inklusi Keuangan untuk Kesejahteraan (AKSI KLIK) event, Airlangga said that to achieve this goal, the government would form the National Council for Financial Well-being. He even confirmed that the formation of the National Council for Financial Well-being would be completed soon. ‘In line with His Excellency the President’s orders, the formation of the National Council for Financial Well-being aims to complement the National Council for Inclusive Finance,’ Airlangga said on Friday 6 March 2026. ‘And currently the government is preparing the legal infrastructure in accordance with the P2SK Law,’ he added. Airlangga emphasised that, rather than merely focusing on financial literacy, policy transformation for financial inclusion must accelerate toward achieving financial well-being for the public. He argued that access to financial services should help people cope with economic shocks. Besides, those services should help people, especially in planning for the future and boosting confidence in managing financial issues. This also includes educating the public about the various risks they must face when using products in the digital financial sector, which continues to develop. Ultimately, the public should be able to protect themselves from crimes in the financial sector, such as digital fraud, scams, and other practices that undermine the sector. ‘So these are the elements that must be safeguarded so that the public is not influenced by negative phenomena,’ he said.
