Airlangga States One-Day-Weekly WFH Policy to Be Finalised This Month
JAKARTA - Coordinating Minister (Menko) Airlangga Hartarto stated that the work from home (WFH) policy for civil servants (ASN) and private sector workers will be finalised in March 2026.
“It will definitely be set this month,” Airlangga said after a meeting with Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto at the Presidential Palace Complex in Jakarta on Friday (27/3/2026).
However, Airlangga has not yet officially announced when the one-day-per-week WFH implementation will take effect.
“This month still has a few days left, so there’s still time,” Airlangga briefly remarked.
The government is currently reviewing several measures to save on the budget following the escalation of conflict in the Middle East after the United States (US) and Israel attacked Iran.
Several cost-saving options planned by the government include implementing work from home (WFH) for civil servants (ASN) to reduce fuel oil (BBM) consumption.
The WFH policy for ASN and private sector workers for one day per week is said to have been approved by all ministers and is awaiting instructions from Prabowo.
“After receiving instructions from the President, it will then be officially announced. Be patient,” said Tito when met at the Palace in Jakarta on Wednesday (25/3/2026).
The government has assured that the one-day-per-week WFH scheme plan will not apply to all work sectors.
State Secretary (Mensesneg) Prasetyo Hadi stated that this policy applies to certain fields that allow remote work.
“I need to clarify that it will apply to certain sectors. To avoid misunderstanding, for example, the service, industrial, and trade sectors may not be part of this policy,” Prasetyo said at Merdeka Palace in Jakarta on Saturday (21/3/2026).
He added that the one-day-per-week WFH policy is still being formulated.
“We are currently refining it to finalise it, and we will convey it to the public as soon as possible,” he said.
