The Coordinating Minister for Economic Affairs Airlangga Hartarto has stated that tariffs on Indonesian product exports to the United States have now been reduced to 15 percent. Previously, the Indonesia-US trade agreement had negotiated a tariff reduction from 32 percent to 19 percent.

The new figure refers to the tariff announced by President Donald Trump following the US Supreme Court’s decision to invalidate reciprocal tariffs. “The global tariff is 15 percent, so what applies is the global tariff of 15 percent,” said Airlangga at the office of the Ministry of Manpower on Friday, 27 February 2026.

Nevertheless, Airlangga explained that a series of agreements between Indonesia and the US contained in the Agreement on Reciprocal Trade (ART) document remain in force and have not been cancelled. This agreement will become valid after 90 days from the date of signing or after formal ratification.

Regarding the 19 percent tariff previously set by the US, Airlangga indicated this would likely be reduced. “It can get a discount to 15 percent,” he said.

He also guaranteed that zero percent tariffs on certain Indonesian export commodities would remain in accordance with the initial agreement. Meanwhile, the amount of US import duties on other Indonesian local products would still be discussed.

On 20 February, the US Supreme Court determined that the reciprocal tariff policy using the International Emergency Economic Powers Act (IEEPA) was illegal. The announcement of the tariff reduction to 10 percent came just one day after the signing of the reciprocal trade agreement (ART) between President Prabowo Subianto and Trump.

Within hours of the ruling, the US leader announced the imposition of a 10 percent tariff on all countries. The following day, Trump stated he would raise the temporary tariff from 10 percent to 15 percent.
