Jakarta, 16 March 2026 — Coordinating Minister for Economic Affairs Airlangga Hartarto has affirmed that 1,819 Indonesian products will maintain zero per cent tariff rates under the new trade agreement scheme with the United States.

Airlangga explained that the Agreements on Reciprocal Tariff (ART) scheme will come into force after obtaining approval from the relevant authorities in both countries, including parliament in Indonesia and Congress in the United States.

“The 1,819 commodities that currently have zero tariffs will remain at zero when this ART is implemented,” Airlangga said at the Coordinating Ministry for Economic Affairs on Monday (16 March 2026).

During the negotiation process, the Indonesian government had previously secured a tariff offer lower than 19 per cent. However, this scheme could not be announced due to policy changes in the US.

Subsequently, a temporary 15 per cent tariff policy emerged, applicable for up to 150 days. After this period, tariff policy will be based on the findings of the ongoing Section 301 investigation.

Airlangga stated that the Indonesian government continues to respond to these developments to ensure a trade agreement that is more advantageous for national exports.

Additionally, Airlangga noted that commercial cooperation between the two countries remains ongoing, including in the energy, manufacturing, and agriculture sectors. Several cooperative initiatives being prepared include appointing Pertamina in energy projects and potential cooperation with Boeing in the aviation industry sector.

The government has also communicated developments in these negotiations to the United States as part of efforts to strengthen bilateral trade relations.

Airlangga emphasised that the government will continue to monitor developments in global trade policy to ensure Indonesian export interests remain protected amid ongoing changes.
