Airlangga Secures IDR 7 Trillion in Business Agreements from Belarus
IKPI, Jakarta: The Indonesian and Belarusian governments have strengthened their bilateral economic cooperation through the signing of the Agreed Minutes of the 8th Indonesia-Belarus Joint Commission Meeting on Economic Cooperation, as well as several Memoranda of Understanding (MoUs) between business entities, with a total value of IDR 7 trillion in Minsk, Belarus, on Friday (15/5).
The Agreed Minutes of the 8th Indonesia-Belarus Joint Commission Meeting were signed by Coordinating Minister for Economic Affairs of the Republic of Indonesia, Airlangga Hartarto, and Deputy Prime Minister of Belarus, Viktor Karankevich. This agreement serves as a foundation for both countries to strengthen the implementation of economic cooperation that has been discussed in a series of joint commission meetings.
During the meeting, both countries discussed various strategic sectors, including trade, investment, industry, agriculture and food security, forestry, banking, health, education, science and technology, culture, sports, and tourism.
Airlangga said that the Agreed Minutes are expected to be an important instrument to accelerate the implementation of various agreements into concrete projects that can have a direct impact on the economic relations between the two countries.
“The agreements reached in this Joint Commission Meeting must be translated into concrete steps that have a direct impact on improving economic relations between Indonesia and Belarus,” said Airlangga in a statement on Saturday (16/5).
Meanwhile, Viktor Karankevich reaffirmed Belarus’ commitment to deepening cooperation with Indonesia, especially in the industrial, agricultural, and technological sectors. Belarus also opens up opportunities for broader collaboration for the business sectors of both countries.
On the same occasion, five MoUs between Indonesian and Belarusian business entities were also signed, with a total value of IDR 7 trillion.
The agreements include an MoU between PT Pupuk Indonesia (Persero) and Nedra Nezhin, then an MoU between PT Indonesia Belarus Jaya and OJSC Minsk Dairy Plant No. 1, Energi Complekt, OJSC Dolomite, and Belindo Trade.
The signing of these business cooperation agreements is expected to expand trade and investment relations between the two countries and strengthen the involvement of the private sector in supporting economic relations between Indonesia and Belarus. (ds)
