Airlangga says no country exemptions for DSI export activities

Coordinating Economic Minister Airlangga Hartarto stated that PT Danantara Sumberdaya Indonesia (DSI) will oversee all export activities without country exemptions. Despite existing bilateral agreements with several countries, export activities for three strategic commodities must still be documented through DSI. ‘DSI covers all sectors. No exceptions for any country,’ Airlangga said at his office in Jakarta on Tuesday. This differs from the previous natural resource export foreign exchange (DHE SDA) policy, which exempted certain countries with bilateral agreements, such as the United States (US). ‘Yes, there were exemptions for partner countries. We will monitor them, such as the United States,’ Airlangga said. PT DSI is a specially tasked company to manage and oversee exports of strategic natural resources. The establishment of DSI follows years of persistent ‘under-invoicing’ and ‘transfer pricing’ practices in Indonesia’s export commodities.
