Airlangga reveals sectors attracting EU investors
Coordinating Minister for Economic Affairs Airlangga Hartarto has highlighted several sectors attracting strong interest from European Union investors as the ratification process for the Indonesia-EU Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement (IEU CEPA) continues.
These sectors include renewable energy, the digital industry, agriculture, and electric vehicle downstreaming.
“We have discussed many sectors, including renewable energy, digital cyber security, and several others. Agriculture is also a matter of concern for both countries,” Airlangga said at a press conference in Jakarta on Friday.
With the implementation of IEU CEPA targeted to take effect in 2027, the government will optimise these sectors.
Bilateral trade between Indonesia and the European Union reached US$31.9 billion in 2025. In addition, US$13.6 billion in investment from the European Union has entered Indonesia over the past five years.
Chairwoman of the Indonesian Employers Association (APINDO) Shinta Widjaja Kamdani added that other sectors with potential to attract EU investors include fisheries, agriculture, and health.
She said the implementation of IEU CEPA is expected not only to increase trade but also to encourage new investment inflows.
“Our hope is that we can increase their investment here. Then whether they build infrastructure or anything else. This is perhaps what we need to see in real terms in the pipeline of projects in Indonesia,” Shinta explained.
