Airlangga Reveals Potential Locations for Financial SEZ in Bali, with 3 Options

Coordinating Minister for the Economy and National SEZ Council Chairman Airlangga Hartarto has revealed several potential locations for the establishment of a Special Financial Center in Bali. Airlangga disclosed two sites in Bali, namely the Sanur SEZ, Kura-Kura SEZ, and one area in Tanjung Benoa. “Yes, there are several SEZs there that are already operational: one in Sanur, two in Kura-Kura Bali. We are also looking at the western region and another location near Benoa,” he said when met by reporters at the Coordinating Ministry for the Economy office in Jakarta on Monday (4/5/2026). “So, looking ahead, the financial centre presents opportunities. Therefore, we are maturing the potential locations,” he added. Previously, together with the Minister of Investment/Head of BKPM and BPI Danantara CEO Rosan Roeslani, as well as BPI Danantara COO Dony Oskaria, they conducted a strategic visit to the Kura Kura Bali Special Economic Zone on Friday (1/5/2026). This visit was carried out in support of the development of the Financial Sector SEZ. The visit took place at Sira Village - Grand Outlet Bali, one of the flagship projects of the Kura Kura Bali SEZ. This area is the result of collaboration between PT Bali Turtle Island Development (BTID) and Mitsubishi Estate, scheduled for launch in the middle of this year. Coordinating Minister Airlangga Hartarto stated that this is a continuation of President Prabowo Subianto’s directives regarding the establishment of a Special Financial Center in Bali, which refers to the Dubai International Financial Centre (DIFC) model, with the aim of attracting investment flows to Indonesia. “So, what can Kura Kura Bali offer as a location for the IFC? It should be discussed directly with Danantara,” the Coordinating Minister revealed, as quoted from an official statement, on Monday (4/5/2026).
