Jakarta — The government is accelerating steps to strengthen oversight of export proceeds and the governance of national strategic commodities. Coordinating Minister for Economic Affairs Airlangga Hartarto said all regulatory instruments needed to implement the new export policy would be completed before 1 June 2026. The policy covers the implementation of Export Proceeds (DHE) and the export mechanisms for flagship commodities such as crude palm oil (CPO), coal, and ferro alloy through PT Danantara Sumber Daya Indonesia. This was conveyed by Airlangga after directly briefing President Prabowo Subianto at the Presidential Palace Complex in Central Jakarta on Thursday, 21 May 2026. “I just reported to the President regarding the implementation plan, namely the execution of Export Proceeds which will take place on 1 June tomorrow, and also the execution of exports of CPO, coal, and ferro alloy led by PT Danantara Sumber Daya Indonesia,” Airlangga said. According to Airlangga, the government is now rushing to complete all cross-ministerial regulatory instruments so that the policy can operate on schedule. “Well, earlier we reported that various regulatory instruments — from the Trade Ministry (Permendag), from Bank Indonesia (BI), and from the Ministry of Finance — will also be prepared and completed before 1 June,” he added. This step forms part of Prabowo’s broader strategy to tighten oversight of foreign exchange flows and the trade of national commodities, which has been considered vulnerable to practices such as export value manipulation, transfer pricing, and leakage of foreign exchange abroad. In addition to finalising the regulation, the government is moving to consolidate with business players and industry associations to ensure the policy is understood by all parties involved. “Secondly, socialisation to the associations will also be carried out this afternoon at 4 p.m., so that the relevant associations are aware of the policy that the government will implement,” Airlangga said. The government previously announced a new scheme for managing the export of natural resources through a state-designated corporate entity. The policy is positioned as a strategic instrument to strengthen state revenues, keep export proceeds within the country, and enhance transparency in Indonesia’s flagship commodity trade.
