Jakarta, CNBC Indonesia - President Prabowo Subianto has emphasised that the government will repair 1,800 unguarded level railway crossings. He assured that the administration will promote the construction of flyovers at these level crossings. The funding for this amounts to Rp 4 trillion.

In response, Coordinating Minister for the Economy Airlangga Hartarto stated that the funding source for the programme comes from the State Revenue and Expenditure Budget (APBN).

“Yes, if it’s the budget, the source is always the same (APBN),” said Airlangga at the Coordinating Ministry for the Economy in Jakarta, quoted on Thursday (29/4/2026).

Head of the State-Owned Enterprises Regulatory Agency Dony Oskaria added that the repair of 1,800 level railway crossings is actually already included in the government’s work agenda for this year.

“This is actually already part of our work programme this year, as directed by the President to approximately 1,800 railway crossings, which must be repaired and must have gates,” Dony stressed.

Dony, met at the Coordinating Ministry’s office, emphasised that the funding will come from the Ministry of Transportation, which is responsible for the authority over public transportation infrastructure.

“It comes from the government; we also have a budget, but from the government, this is indeed the Ministry of Transportation, where the infrastructure comes from the government as well,” he said.
