Airlangga Predicts Indonesian Economy to Grow Above 5% in Q2-2026
Coordinating Minister for Economic Affairs Airlangga Hartarto is optimistic that Indonesia’s economic growth in the second quarter of 2026 will remain above 5%.
“We just keep monitoring. Above 5% (economic growth), still,” he told journalists at the office of the Coordinating Ministry for Economic Affairs in Jakarta on Wednesday (29/7/2026).
Airlangga said the drivers of Indonesia’s economy in Q2 2026 are investment and several incentives promoted by the government.
“The second quarter is still related to investment and to several incentives being pushed by the government,” he concluded.
The reading of economic growth for Q2 2026 is expected to be released next week on 5 August 2026.
Meanwhile, when asked about special incentives in view of the impact of El Nino, Airlangga responded that the government would provide food assistance for the public.
“We shall see; we always provide facilities for food,” he said.
Airlangga said the government would seek to mitigate the impact of the drought caused by the Godzilla El Nino phenomenon, among other things through water pumping and equitable water distribution.
“We just keep monitoring, because in several regions rainfall has ceased, and we identify which areas can be addressed through pumping — where the rivers still hold plenty of water — and how to distribute that water to productive areas,” he said.
