Airlangga Pledges No Increase in Pertalite Price Until December

Coordinating Minister for Economic Affairs Airlangga Hartarto has affirmed the government’s commitment not to increase the price of subsidised Pertalite fuel until the end of 2026. According to him, the state budget (APBN) continues to function as a shock absorber in withstanding the surge in oil prices, where the average Indonesian Crude Price (ICP) throughout the first half of 2026 reached USD90.46 per barrel, far above the APBN assumption. “The government’s principle is clear: the public’s purchasing power must not be eroded. Therefore, we maintain fuel prices, stabilise food prices, and channel stimulus precisely on target,” Airlangga stated during a press conference at the Coordinating Ministry for Economic Affairs office in Jakarta, as quoted on Thursday (6/8/2026). Airlangga said this was a directive from the President. In line with this, the government will also reduce dependence on diesel imports through the B50 biodiesel programme policy. This is part of the government’s policy to maintain energy security. “With the implementation of B50, we will no longer import diesel. And actually, with current prices, the utilisation of subsidies for B50 is relatively small,” Airlangga concluded.
