Airlangga: Indonesia Remains Attractive to Investors Amid Global Turmoil
Coordinating Minister for Economic Affairs Airlangga Hartarto assessed that Indonesia remains an attractive investment destination amid increasing global uncertainty due to geopolitical conflicts. Although global conflicts make markets increasingly difficult to predict and encourage investors to be more cautious in placing capital, according to Airlangga, the Indo-Pacific region is still viewed as a safe and profitable area for investment. Currently, the world is awaiting the momentum for peace between the US and Iran. “Peace always yields positive results for the global outlook, for the global economy. And secondly, it will also improve the supply chain. So these two things greatly influence the Indonesian economy. But clearly, peace contributes positively to the economy,” Airlangga stated in an official release in Jakarta on Wednesday. Airlangga explained that ASEAN’s economic growth, which remains above 4 percent, as well as regional stability supported by countries such as China, Japan, South Korea, Australia, and New Zealand, are important factors in maintaining investor confidence. Amid global uncertainty, various special economic zones (KEK) are also recording positive performance with high occupancy rates. In fact, several zones are preparing expansions to accommodate the global supply chain realignment.
