Airlangga Hints PFII Governor Candidate from Within Government

The government has a name in mind for the Governor of the Indonesian International Financial Centre (PFII). Coordinating Minister for Economic Affairs Airlangga Hartarto disclosed that the candidate to lead the institution comes from within the government’s own internal circles. However, Airlangga was still reluctant to reveal the identity of the figure being prepared for this strategic position. “The candidate is already there. From within the government. Not yet, we will announce it later,” Airlangga said on Tuesday (11/8/2026). In addition to preparing the leadership, the government is also still finalising the operational location for the PFII. According to Airlangga, several alternatives are being studied, including an area owned by InJourney in Bali, which is close to the international airport. “One of the considerations is the InJourney area in Bali, near the airport,” he stated. However, Airlangga emphasised that Jakarta is also still an option for the initial phase of the international financial centre’s development. “But for the initial period, Jakarta is also being considered,” he added. When asked about the possibility of the PFII being located in the Danareksa area in Jakarta, as previously suggested, Airlangga said a final decision has not been made. “Not yet. It will be confirmed after it is formed,” he said.
