The government is leveraging the Eid al-Fitr momentum as one of the drivers of national economic growth amid global dynamics, including potential energy price fluctuations.

Coordinating Minister for the Economy, Airlangga Hartarto, stated that the meaning of Eid extends beyond religious celebration to encompass an important economic dimension.

“The meaning of Eid is to celebrate victory after 30 days of fasting. And certainly, the meaning of this victory is also linked to the economy; the government has implemented various programmes, including discounts, promoting mobility through work from anywhere, as well as various programmes such as direct cash assistance, social assistance, and hopes that with this victory we can achieve 5.5% economic growth in the first quarter,” said Airlangga on Saturday (21/3).

He explained that the government has prepared various stimuli to maintain people’s purchasing power while increasing economic activity during the Eid period, ranging from transport discounts and flexible work policies to social assistance.

According to him, this combination of policies is expected to boost household consumption, which forms the backbone of national economic growth.

On that occasion, Airlangga also expressed hopes that society can jointly face future global challenges, particularly regarding the potential energy crisis.

“Happy Eid al-Fitr, forgiveness for both physical and spiritual shortcomings, and in this atmosphere, we certainly hope to jointly face the upcoming oil crisis turmoil,” he concluded.
