Coordinating Minister for Economic Affairs Airlangga Hartarto has urged PT PLN (Persero) to resolve the rolling blackouts on Java, stating that the power cuts significantly affect the economy. He conveyed this during a meeting with Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources Bahlil Lahadalia, expressing hope that the issue would be settled by the end of June. “Yes, it certainly has a significant impact on the economy. But we have asked PLN, and we held a meeting with the Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources. The hope is that this can be resolved by the end of this month,” Airlangga said at his office in Central Jakarta. He added that a country is considered to have a good business climate and economy if its primary infrastructure is supportive, noting that Indonesia is currently attracting investor interest due to its renewable energy sources. Meanwhile, Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives Sufmi Dasco Ahmad confirmed that the rolling blackouts would not recur in the coming weeks. This assurance followed coordination between the House and various agencies, including the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources, PLN, the Attorney General’s Office, and the State Intelligence Agency, to dissect the factors causing the supply disruptions and find immediate solutions.
