Airlangga confirms natural resource exports will continue to be conducted by the private sector
Don’t worry, because all exports are still carried out by companies in the existing sectors — coal, CPO (crude palm oil), and ferro-nickel. Airlangga Hartarto, the Coordinating Minister for Economic Affairs, assured this at the Presidential Palace Complex in Jakarta on Thursday. He explained that in these export activities business players only need to file reports with PT Danantara Sumberdaya Indonesia (DSI) as the initial stage. DSI has a special mandate to manage and supervise export transactions of strategic natural resources such as crude palm oil, coal, and ferroalloys. ‘There will be explanations for investors, so before 1 June the players can know. Because previously, at the initial stage, we opened up reporting or in the form of reporting,’ he said. Regarding the prices of the three commodities, Airlangga noted they will be aligned with each commodity’s reference price (HR). ‘There will later be benchmarking of commodity prices, but there is also a reference price for the benchmarks for coal, CPO, and ferro-nickel,’ he added. Furthermore, starting January 2027, DSI will transform into a trading company that buys commodities directly from exporters, holds the goods, and bears trading risk before selling them to the international market. The sale proceeds will be received in foreign currency in line with the destination country, while continuing to follow international trade practices. The funds from the sale will be returned entirely to Indonesia.
