Jakarta, CNBC Indonesia - Coordinating Minister for Economic Affairs Airlangga Hartarto has ensured that ongoing export contracts will continue to be respected, even as the government begins implementing a single-door governance mechanism for the export of strategic natural resources through PT Danantara Sumberdaya Indonesia (DSI).

As previously reported, the government will enforce the export policy for strategic commodities through PT DSI starting 1 June 2026. In the initial phase, three strategic commodities will be subject to this policy: coal, Crude Palm Oil (CPO), and ferroalloy.

This policy will be implemented gradually through a transition period running from 1 June to 31 December 2026, with full implementation targeted no later than 1 January 2027.

Airlangga acknowledged the concerns of business players regarding the change in export mechanisms. However, he emphasised that all existing contracts will remain respected as long as they are conducted normally and in accordance with applicable regulations.

“Regarding contracts, companies will certainly respect their respective agreements, provided those transactions are normal and use reference prices based on the established benchmarks,” Airlundga stated during a press conference in Jakarta on Sunday (31/5/2026).

Furthermore, Airlangga ensured that the implementation of DSI will be carried out in stages and evaluated periodically, particularly after the first three months of the policy’s operation starting 1 June 2026.

“These stages will be evaluated within three months, including assessing the system readiness of PT DSI itself,” he added.

Concurrently, the Investment Management Agency of Daya Anagata Nusantara (BPI Danantara) stated that it is still finalising the management structure for PT Danantara Sumberdaya Indonesia (DSI). Following the appointment of Luke Thomas Mahony as President Director of PT DSI, Danantara is currently conducting a rigorous selection process for the company’s management team.

COO of BPI Danantara, Dony Oskaria, mentioned that Danantara plans to announce the names of the management team members in the near future. He noted that a strict selection process is underway regarding the human resources that will join PT DSI.

“A strict selection process is being conducted, and God willing, more names will be announced by Danantara as part of the team next week,” said Dony.

Additionally, Danantara is developing a technological system to support DSI’s operations. The system is designed to ensure that data management and export transactions are transparent, secure, and accountable.

Dony stated that the formation of DSI is a significant mandate given to Danantara to ensure Indonesia’s natural resources provide maximum benefits to the nation and its people.

“It is a great mandate entrusted by the Indonesian people to manage our natural resources to provide maximum benefit. Therefore, we at Danantara Indonesia will strive our best, and the implementation of this programme can be monitored by the Indonesian public,” he concluded.
