The Coordinating Minister for Economic Affairs, Airlangga Hartarto, was noted to have begun using the Maung as his official service vehicle on Monday (5/10/2026).

Airlangga used the Maung, bearing plate RI 24, to travel from his office to the State Palace. He stated that he began using the tactical vehicle, manufactured by PT Pindad (Persero), after the unit arrived last Saturday.

“Just received it last Saturday, we are only using it today,” Airlangga said at his office on Monday (5/10/2026).

Previously, President Prabowo Subianto requested that ministers and heads of agencies use the Maung as their official service vehicles. In 2025, Prabowo emphasised the target for Indonesia to be able to fully produce national cars within the next three years. The government is said to have prepared various forms of support to accelerate the realisation of this target, ranging from budget allocations to the provision of land for production facilities.

President Prabowo himself has also adopted the Maung as his official vehicle. The Maung used is the MV3 Garuda Limousine type, in white.

Pindad specially prepared this vehicle for use by President Prabowo and Vice President Gibran Rakabuming Raka following their inauguration. The MV3 Garuda Limousine is the latest developmental variant of the MV3, designed and developed to directly accommodate the directives from President Prabowo.

The Garuda weighs 2.95 tonnes, with dimensions of approximately 5.05m in length, 2.06m in width, and 1.87m in height, featuring a long wheelbase design for comfort and spaciousness. The vehicle possesses an engine power of 201 PS/199 HP, an 8-speed automatic transmission, and a maximum speed of 100 km/h.

With its portfolio as a manufacturer of Defence and Security Equipment (Alpalhankam), Pindad has made vehicle protection a top priority. The vehicle is equipped with security features throughout, including a body made of composite armour material resistant to 7.62 x 51 mm NATO ball and 5.56 x 45 mm M193 ammunition, B5/B6 level bulletproof glass, and R21 Run Flat Tyres (RFT) that allow the vehicle to continue driving even if punctured during a journey.
