Airlangga and Purbaya Agree: Ramadan 2026 Brings These Blessings for Indonesia
Coordinating Minister for the Economy Airlangga Hartarto is confident that economic growth can achieve the 5.5% target, driven by the vibrancy of Ramadan.
“It seems the 5.5 target can be achieved. The vibrancy during Ramadan,” said Airlangga to the media at the DJP Mosque on Saturday (21/3/2026).
The Coordinating Minister also stated that inflation this year could potentially rise due to the low base from last year’s deflation, influenced by the electricity tariff subsidy policy in January-February 2025.
“Last year it was low, and last year up to February there was electricity, so that caused deflation in terms of electricity last year,” he said.
Additionally, Airlangga emphasised that Work From Anywhere will be implemented after the long Eid holidays, targeted at civil servants (ASN) and as a recommendation to private sector workers.
“WFA after Eid will be implemented. (For) ASN or recommendations to the private sector but not for public services,” added Airlangga.
Finance Minister Purbaya Yudi Sadewa also extended Eid greetings and prayed that Indonesian society could become more successful, wealthy, and above all, happier after celebrating the victory of Eid al-Fitr 1447H.
“Happy Eid al-Fitr, forgiveness on all sides, may in the future everything becomes more successful, happier, wealthier, more prosperous,” he said when met at the mosque of the Directorate General of Taxation Head Office, Central Jakarta, on Saturday (21/3/2026).
In addition to extending holiday greetings, Purbaya also delivered an optimistic message regarding Indonesia’s economy, which he assessed as still strong. He even believes that economic growth can still reach up to 5.7% amid global conditions full of uncertainties.
“If based on the latest figures, our growth could be 5.6-5.7 percent roughly. That’s already quite good amid the current global situation,” he said.
