Airbus Explores Strategic Partnership for Airport Development and Aviation Services in Indonesia
JAKARTA, KOMPAS.com - The European aircraft manufacturer Airbus is exploring a strategic partnership with Indonesia in developing airport infrastructure and enhancing national aviation services. This collaboration is aimed at supporting the strengthening of air connectivity while promoting the modernisation of the aviation ecosystem in the country.
The partnership is being carried out through a Joint Declaration of Intent (JDI) between the Ministry of National Development Planning/National Development Planning Agency (PPN/Bappenas) and Airbus.
The agreement was signed by Anand Stanley, President of Airbus Asia-Pacific, and Rachmat Pambudy, Minister of National Development Planning/Head of Bappenas.
“Based on this agreement, both parties will explore various strategic partnership opportunities that align with the Roadmap for the Development of Indonesia’s Aerospace Industry Ecosystem 2022–2045,” said Minister PPN/Head of Bappenas Rachmat Pambudy in an official statement on Wednesday (6/5/2026).
“This partnership also aims to improve inter-island connectivity through the development of airport infrastructure and aviation services to support efficient and sustainable air traffic growth, which is projected to increase up to fourfold by 2045,” he continued.
He also stated that human resource development is a key factor in the success of the roadmap.
Both parties are committed to promoting the development of national talent and building a world-class aerospace professional ecosystem that meets the needs and dynamics of the industry in Indonesia.
“This declaration is an important step in realising Indonesia’s development vision,” he said.
“The partnership with Airbus as a global leader will provide significant impetus in efforts to build a resilient and competitive national aerospace industry,” he added.
“We view Indonesia as a strategic partner and are ready to align our global expertise with Indonesia’s aerospace roadmap to deliver long-term mutual benefits,” emphasised Stanley.
