After traversing a long route that detoured to avoid the war in the Gulf region, the Airbus A400M Atlas aircraft has finally arrived in Indonesia. The second Airbus A400M ordered by the Indonesian Ministry of Defence landed at Halim Perdanakusuma Air Base in East Jakarta on Friday afternoon (28/3/2026) Western Indonesia Time. The transport aircraft, with registration number A-4002, followed a route from Seville in Spain to St John’s in Canada. It then flew and transited in Japan. Subsequently, this second TNI AU aircraft stopped at Johannes Abraham Dimara Air Base in Merauke and Anang Bursa Air Base in Tarakan before heading to its final destination in Jakarta. This differs from the flight of the Airbus A400M (A-4001), which took a route from Seville with transits in Dubai (United Arab Emirates) and Soewondo Air Base in Medan. Both A400M aircraft will join the fleet at Air Squadron 31 of Wing Air 1 at Halim Perdanakusuma Air Base. Previously, the Head of Information of the Secretariat General of the Ministry of Defence, Brigadier General Rico Ricardo Sirait, confirmed that the arrival of the Airbus A400M would be imminent. “The second Airbus A400 will arrive at the end of this March,” Rico said briefly to Republika in Jakarta on Wednesday (25/3/2026).
