AirAsia to Gradually Lower Ticket Prices as Jet Fuel Costs Decline

AirAsia X announced it will gradually lower ticket prices in line with the declining cost of aviation fuel. CEO Bo Lingam stated that the airline had already reduced tariffs by 5% on 15 June and will continue to review pricing weekly as fuel costs fall. “The decline in fuel prices gives us an opportunity to revise our tariffs,” Lingam said during a press conference accessed from Jakarta on Monday.

He noted that the trend of falling jet fuel prices allows AirAsia to continue delivering value to its customers while supporting travel and economic activity in the region. The company is also steadily restoring its flight capacity across its network and aims for a full capacity recovery by August 2026.

Lingam highlighted that affordable air travel is a key factor in maintaining momentum for tourism and economic growth. He stressed the importance of collaboration between airlines, airport operators, regulators, and tourism industry players to keep travel costs accessible for the public. AirAsia is also expanding its network with new destinations, including Busan, Bahrain, and London, as well as various domestic routes, to meet strong travel demand and strengthen connectivity within ASEAN.
