AirAsia to buy 80 new planes
MACAU: Asia's first budget airline AirAsia is planning to put in an order for 80 new aircraft, an industry source said on Thursday, as the no-frills carrier launched its first service to Macau.
The source said the Kuala Lumpur-based airline will submit the order for tender to rivals Boeing and Airbus, without giving further details.
AirAsia on Thursday launched its first service into southern China with daily flights between Bangkok and Macau. The Boeing 737 service will cost 149 patacas (US$18.60) one-way and an introductory offer of 100 patacas has been offered for the first 10,000 tickets sold. -- AFP
