Jakarta – PT AirAsia Indonesia Tbk (AAID/CMPP) recorded revenue of Rp7.87 trillion throughout 2025, whilst simultaneously reducing losses by approximately 15 percent compared to 2024.

“This performance improvement reflects the strengthening of airline operations amid the dynamics of the aviation industry, which continues to face challenges from operational costs and currency exchange fluctuations,” said AirAsia Indonesia Chief Executive Officer Achmad Sadikin Abdurachman in a statement in Jakarta on Sunday.

Throughout 2025, through its subsidiary Indonesia AirAsia, he stated that the company transported 5.91 million passengers with a seat load factor of 83 percent across its entire flight network.

Seat sales became the largest contributor to revenue at Rp6.62 trillion. Meanwhile, ancillary revenue such as baggage, in-flight services, cargo, charter, and other services reached Rp1.25 trillion, an increase of 3 percent compared to 2024.

Operational performance in 2025 was also influenced by a temporary reduction in flight capacity following aircraft maintenance schedules as part of the airline’s safety and operational reliability standards. This maintenance programme resulted in reduced available seating capacity during several periods throughout the year.

Additionally, depreciation of the US dollar by approximately 3.8 percent helped reduce operational costs, which are largely denominated in foreign currency. Nevertheless, the company successfully reduced cost per available seat kilometre (CASK) by 1.4 percent compared to 2024 through various efficiency measures.

“Throughout 2025, we focused on strengthening flight connectivity whilst maintaining operational efficiency. These efforts enabled Indonesia AirAsia to reduce losses amid aviation industry challenges that continue to face pressure from operational costs,” said Achmad.

In 2025, Indonesia AirAsia also expanded its flight network through the opening of several strategic routes, both international and domestic.

International routes opened included Bali–Darwin, Bali–Adelaide, and Surabaya–Don Mueang (Bangkok).

Domestically, the company opened routes between Jakarta–Manado, Surabaya–Balikpapan, Balikpapan–Tarakan, and Balikpapan–Berau to strengthen inter-regional connectivity.

To strengthen performance in 2026, he stated that Indonesia AirAsia will continue expanding its flight network. In the first quarter of 2026, the airline will open new routes to Melbourne, Australia, and Da Nang, Vietnam, all served through Bali.

“Strengthening Bali’s role as an international hub is expected to attract more foreign tourists to Indonesia whilst expanding flight connectivity to various international destinations,” said Achmad.

On the domestic side, the airline will also expand its flight network connecting Surabaya, Makassar, Palu, Luwuk, and Kendari in early 2026, with Makassar serving as a virtual hub to expand connectivity to various regions in eastern Indonesia.

All of Indonesia AirAsia’s routes are also connected with the AirAsia Group’s Fly-Thru service, which enables passengers to continue their journey to more than 150 destinations within the AirAsia Group network across various countries.
