Indonesia AirAsia, the Indonesian airline, has expressed apologies to passengers impacted by recent flight schedule adjustments. “We understand the inconvenience experienced by passengers and extend our apologies for this situation. We are striving to the utmost to ensure that every passenger receives appropriate handling options,” stated Acting President Director of Indonesia AirAsia, Capt. Achmad Sadikin, in an official statement received by Kompas.com on Wednesday (8/4/2026). Previously, several AirAsia passengers had complained about repeated flight cancellations and rescheduling. The dynamics in question include adjustments to fuel surcharges occurring amid geopolitical situations. Currently, the Indonesian Government provides import duty exemptions for aircraft spare parts, which is a strategic step giving airlines room to maintain operational continuity. There is also the Government-Borne Value-Added Tax (PPN DTP) policy of 11% for domestic economy class air tickets, which plays an important role in keeping prices affordable for the public. “In line with such support, the aviation industry still faces significant cost pressures, particularly due to rising avtur prices and other operational components,” Achmad explained. Therefore, Indonesia AirAsia will carry out gradual capacity rationalisation and operational adjustments, particularly on routes with limited margins. “Indonesia AirAsia will continue to monitor developments and coordinate with all stakeholders to ensure flight services run smoothly and provide comfort to all passengers,” he concluded.
