Air Ticket Prices Rise by up to 13 Per Cent, Here Are the Main Causes
Air ticket prices have experienced an increase in recent times, particularly on domestic routes. This situation is influenced by the rise in avtur prices on the global market, which impacts airline operational costs. The government states that the increase in aircraft fuel prices is one of the main factors driving the adjustment of air ticket fares. “To keep the increase in domestic air ticket prices affordable for the public, the government is maintaining the rise in ticket prices at only around 9 per cent to 13 per cent,” stated during a press conference at the Coordinating Ministry for Economic Affairs on Monday (6/4/2026). This means that although air ticket prices are rising, the government is striving to ensure the increase remains controlled. “This increase in avtur prices certainly affects the cost structure of national airlines, where its contribution reaches around 40 per cent,” said Airlangga. In Thailand, the avtur price per litre is recorded at around Rp 29,518. Meanwhile, in the Philippines, it is around Rp 25,326 per litre. As for the avtur price in Indonesia, particularly at Soekarno-Hatta Airport, in early April 2026 it is around Rp 23,551 per litre.
