Air Force HQ probes chopper crash
JAKARTA: Air Force Headquarters has decided to reopen the investigation into the crash of a Twinpack helicopter in Bogor, West Java, last October.
"We need to conduct a follow-up investigation to get more detailed information about the cause of the incident," Air Force spokesman Rear Air Marshall Sagom Tamboen said on Tuesday.
The crash at Atang Sanjaya Air Force base in Bogor, West Java, killed seven Air Force personnel, including Capt. Andi and Capt. Gustav Marganto. The five other fatalities were air crew.
He said the preliminary investigation was conducted by a team from the Atang Sanjaya base, while the follow-up would be undertaken by Air Force Headquarters. He did not explain the reason for the change.
"We will disclose the detailed cause of the incident after we conclude the follow-up investigation," Sagom said. --Antara
