Air Force Chief of Staff urges officers to be adaptive and enhance defence capabilities

Jakarta (ANTARA) - Chief of Staff of the Indonesian Air Force (KSAU) Air Marshal TNI Mohamad Tonny Harjono has urged Indonesian Air Force (TNI AU) officers to be more adaptive and enhance their capabilities amid the evolving dynamics of modern warfare. According to Tonny, this must be done to ensure that the TNI AU remains reliable in safeguarding national defence amidst advancements in warfare technology. “All officers must demonstrate quality leadership, character, and the best capabilities in facing the dynamics of the strategic environment,” said Tonny during his address to TNI AU officers under the Lanud Sultan Hasanuddin, Kodau II, and Kosek II at the Supernova Room, Base Ops Lanud Sultan Hasanuddin, Makassar, as quoted from a press release received in Jakarta on Tuesday. According to Tonny, the character of warfare is now changing uniformly and shifting towards multi-domain operations that encompass land, sea, air, cyber, and even outer space. This is influenced by global geo-economic dynamics and rapid technological developments. Such conditions, he said, demand that the TNI AU be more adaptive to avoid falling behind other more advanced countries. “One of the technological advancements already felt in the world is the utilisation of artificial intelligence (AI) and drones in air operations,” stated Tonny. Therefore, Tonny urged all TNI AU officers to adapt to these various developments, with several measures that can be taken, namely improving the quality of soldiers’ human resources and the capabilities of the main weapon system equipment (alutsista) of the TNI AU. With advanced alutsista combined with soldiers who have the capability to operate and read strategies, Tonny is confident that the TNI AU will become even stronger amid the evolving dynamics of warfare. “Through this address, it is hoped that all TNI Air Force soldiers will be increasingly prepared and professional in facing every task challenge, and able to provide the best contribution to the nation and state,” he concluded.
