Air Conditioner Prices Rise Repeatedly Since Early 2026, Leaving Sellers Perplexed
The market price for air conditioners (AC) has begun to experience increases compared to last year. Consumers, who were previously able to find AC units priced at around Rp3 million, must now prepare larger funds to purchase new units.
An AC seller in the Ciputat market area, Hidayat, revealed that the price hike is particularly noticeable when consumers seek to replace old units that have undergone repeated repairs. According to observations by CNBC Indonesia at the location, various 1 PK AC options offered by traders now range from approximately Rp3.8 million to nearly Rp5 million, depending on the brand and installation package.
“There are no 1 PK units available for Rp3.1–3.2 million now. They remain above Rp3.5 million. The cheapest is Rp3.5 million,” said Hidayat on Tuesday (22/9/26).
These price changes have led consumers to compare current AC prices with conditions at the end of the previous year. At that time, consumers noted they could still find offers for AC units in the Rp3.1 million to Rp3.2 million range.
“Prices rose at the beginning of the year. It rose at the start of the year, yes. Now, there is nothing around the low Rp3 million mark for 1 PK. Piping prices have risen, AC prices have risen. It hasn’t just risen once; it has risen multiple times,” said Hidayat.
Offered prices also vary by brand. For a 1 PK Sharp AC including installation, for example, Hidayat mentioned the price reaches Rp3.85 million, while a 1 PK Gree unit with installation is around Rp4.7 million. However, prices depend on the specific type of AC.
“A 1 PK Gree unit including installation is priced at Rp4,700,000. Its increase is high,” Hidayat noted.
Hidayat also mentioned that the price increase is not limited to a single type of good. The price movement of components and electronic products is forcing traders to adjust selling prices amidst changing market conditions.
“Everything is rising. That is why sometimes the economy does not grow, yet all goods are rising, all electronics are rising. As a seller, it is sometimes confusing,” said Hidayat.
