Republika.co.id, Jakarta – The editor-in-chief of Republika, Andi Muhyiddin, emphasised that the launch of ‘Aiman & Aisha’ is not merely about introducing a new feature, but about addressing the needs of the digital generation in seeking meaning amid the rise of artificial intelligence (AI).

‘Today we are not simply launching a feature, nor merely introducing media innovation. We are talking about something bigger — about an era, about a generation, and about how humans actually seek meaning,’ he said in his monologue during the Grand Launch of ‘Aiman & Aisha’, themed When Faith Meets Technology, at the National Library, Central Jakarta, on Wednesday (4 March 2026).

The man affectionately known as Dio explained that AI is no longer future technology but part of everyday life.

Citing research, he noted that 64.7 percent of Indonesians have used AI. Meanwhile PwC’s global 2025 survey shows that 69 percent of workers have used AI in the preceding 12 months, and 96 percent of daily users feel more productive.

‘This is not a small experiment in my view; this is a change in social behaviour. We are living in an era in which artificial intelligence shapes how we work and how we think, even how we love,’ he said.

He pointed to a viral story in Britain about a woman named Charlotte who felt happier interacting with an AI chatbot than with her own husband.

Although she eventually realised that AI is not human, the phenomenon demonstrates how strong an emotional bond can form with technology.

According to Dio, Generation Z has grown up with technology and views AI not merely as a tool, but as a conversational partner. With AI usage among Gen Z reaching 43.7 percent, the way they ask questions has become more personal and open.
