Aiman & Aisha Officially Launched, Islamic AI Grounded in the Quran
An Islam-faith oriented artificial intelligence named Aiman & Aisha was officially launched at the Auditorium of the National Library of Indonesia, Jalan Merdeka Selatan, Jakarta, on Wednesday 4 March 2026. The arrival of this AI aims to respond to the rapid developments in digital transformation.
Under the theme ‘When Faith Meets Technology: Designing AI with Moral Architecture’, the event is an effort to safeguard the digital sovereignty of the community by presenting technology that is not only advanced but also morally structured. The innovative platform is supported by BytePlus as a strategic technology partner.
The Deputy Minister of Communications and Digital (Wamenkomdigi) Nezar Patria expressed high appreciation for the AI’s presence. He said Aiman & Aisha is a concrete representation of how AI can be designed to support an Islam-themed content ecosystem that is curated.
‘The presence of Aiman & Aisha must be understood as an effort to safeguard our digital sovereignty, where artificial intelligence is built on a solid reference to educate the nation,’ Patria said in a written statement, Thursday 5 March 2026.
He emphasised that AI development by national media institutions is very important. The aim is that algorithms interacting with society remain grounded in data integrity and cultural diversity of Indonesia. He noted technology should not be an alien entity detached from the social reality of its users.
Furthermore, Nezar reminded that although AI offers extraordinary efficiency, the role of humans in curation and maintaining empathy remains irreplaceable. He hopes Aiman & Aisha can become a means of digital learning that blends cutting-edge technology with Islamic wisdom.
‘We want AI like Aiman & Aisha to be partners for internet users, not to substitute the depth of thought that lies at the heart of an intellectual’s task,’ Patria said.
Secretary-General of the Ministry of Religious Affairs of the Republic of Indonesia, Prof Kamaruddin Amin, asserted that the launch of the ‘Aiman & Aisyah’ platform is not merely introducing a new technology product, but an effort of civilisation.
‘This moment is not merely the launch of a product or platform. It is the launch of a civilisation endeavour,’ Kamaruddin said.
At the same event, Secretary of the Central Leadership of Muhammadiyah, Izzul Muslimin, assessed that the presence of AI based on Islamic values would contribute positively to da’wah and religious literacy in society.
‘We are very pleased to witness this extraordinary agenda. God willing it will add positive value to our da’wah activities and also provide space for the public to obtain the best and useful information,’ Izzul said.
Meanwhile, Republika Director Rangga Danu explained that the presence of Aiman & Aisha is grounded in the real need of the community for fast, trustworthy, and sharia-compliant religious answers. In a fast-paced daily life, questions about worship, muamalat, and social ethics arise urgently, while access to comprehensive references is not always easy.
‘Aiman & Aisha is an AI-based Islam education companion that relies solely on the Al-Quran and is designed to provide fast, structured answers in line with the principles of sharia for various everyday Islamic questions. We are presenting a new standard, AI with a moral architecture, prioritising caution, clear references, and ethical responsibility,’ Rangga said.
He added that in welcoming the holy month, they offer free access to the public to use Aiman & Aisha during Ramadan as a spiritual companion and travel companion for all. Anyone can ask Aiman & Aisha without charge.
‘This policy is expected to broaden the benefits of the platform as a digital spiritual companion, particularly during Ramadan, a moment rich with needs for worship literacy, sharia consultation, and social ethics guidance during travel home,’ he said.
Next, the public can enjoy unlimited access to ask Aiman & Aisha starting from Rp 8,000. He said the uniqueness lies in intentional constraint as a form of epistemic responsibility. Aiman & Aisha does not aim to answer everything but focuses on things that can be Qur’anic and shari’a-governed.
‘We believe this approach can increase trust, reduce interpretive noise, and restore the Quran as the central orientation. By blending the foundation of Revelation and technological sophistication, we position Aiman & Aisha not merely as a chatbot, but as a human-centred digital muallim, a learning companion for Islam relevant to the dynamics of the times,’ he said.
He added that the presence of Aiman & Aisha is not detached from collaboration with BytePlus as a strategic technical partner. BytePlus provides intelligent solutions globally recognised to support the development of the platform’s AI infrastructure.
According to him, Aiman & Aisha is designed to present information sourced from and limited to the Al-Quran and the principles of sharia. This approach aims to deliver more targeted and relevant references amid the flood of unverified digital information.
The platform’s presence is a tangible demonstration that cutting-edge technology can be directed to preserve the purity of the source of knowledge while improving the religious literacy of society. Looking ahead, BytePlus hopes to continue supporting the development and refinement of Aiman & Aisha’s capabilities. Currently, Aiman & Aisha is available on the online website.
