AIDS talks planned

JAKARTA: The government plans to summon leaders from all 27 provincial governments to Jakarta next month to review the problems of the Acquired Immune Deficiency Syndrome (AIDS) and ways of halting the spread of the fatal disease.

The national congress on AIDS is slated for Aug. 23-24, according to the Ministry of Health's Directorate for Eradicating Direct Contagious Diseases.

The coordinating Minister for People's Welfare, who also chairs the National AIDS commission set up early this year, will preside over the congress. (arf)
