The aide-de-camp to the Commander of Military Resort 072/Pamungkas, Brigadier General Yuniar Dwi Hantono, has issued an apology following an incident at a marathon event in Jogja on Sunday (21/6). The incident involved a marshal forcibly removing the aide, who was not wearing a race bib (BIB), from the track.

The apology was recorded in a video shared by the Head of Public Relations of Korem 072/Pamungkas, Major Inf Suwito, with detikJogja. The video shows the aide, identified as Serda Ainul Yaqin, alongside the marshal who pulled him. “It was just a misunderstanding, and they have already forgiven each other,” Suwito explained when contacted on Monday (22/6), while sending the apology video.

In his statement, Serda Ainul Yaqin said: “I would like to apologise for my negligence in participating in the run wearing a jersey but without a BIB. I realise that this action was a mistake and not in accordance with the applicable rules. I sincerely apologise to the organisers, all officials, volunteers, and all participants affected by this incident. I take full responsibility for this error and will make it a lesson for the future. Thank you for the criticism and input provided.”

The marshal involved in the viral video was also present alongside Ainul Yaqin and offered his own apology, stating, “I also apologise for my excessive actions, and I consider this matter resolved, thank you.” The two then embraced.

The incident went viral after a video circulated showing Brigadier General Yuniar Dwi Hantono forcibly pulling his aide, who was not wearing a BIB, back onto the marathon track. The 25-second clip, widely shared on social media, shows the aide being pulled off the track by a marshal for not having a race number. Moments later, the Danrem appears while running and pulls the aide back onto the track, leading to a tug-of-war with the marshal. The Danrem was also seen pointing at the marshal after the aide was pulled out again.

A social media post accompanying the video stated: “At the Mandiri Jogja Marathon 2026 event, a person without a bib number was asked to leave the track by the committee. Not long after, a runner forced that person to re-enter the track. Respect to the committee.”

Kapenrem 072/Pamungkas Major Inf Suwito provided clarification, stating that the aide had initially been participating with a BIB, but it likely came off during the crowded race, causing a misunderstanding during the official’s check.
