Aide: Jokowi to Attend Diploma Hearing Next Week

JAKARTA — Indonesia’s seventh president, Joko Widodo, has received a summons to testify at the East Jakarta District Court on 5 November 2026 in a case involving allegations that his university diploma is fake.

Jokowi’s aide, AKBP Syarif Muhammad Fitriansyah, said the father of Vice-President Gibran Rakabuming Raka was scheduled to attend the hearing.

“We received the witness summons from the Attorney General’s Office for Mr Ir H Joko Widodo last Tuesday. He will attend court on 5 November,” Syarif said on Thursday (29 October 2026).

Syarif said he had also received a summons to testify in the same case on Tuesday (27 October). “I was summoned as a witness too,” he said.

Syarif reiterated that Jokowi would attend the East Jakarta District Court as stated in the summons. “Yes, because the invitation specifies the date, time and place, he will certainly attend,” he said.

Syarif also explained why Jokowi had not attended an earlier hearing: he had not yet received an invitation.
