Aid for villages
Aid for villages
From Media Indonesia
President Soeharto set up a special program, Inpres, which allocates aid to the least developed villages in Indonesia, a program aimed at enhancing the welfare and prosperity of the people. According to information, the aid amounts to Rp 20 million for each village. And for Buru island, particularly east North Buru district, Central Maluku, there are ten villages that are listed as the least developed villages. If that is true, the ten villages should receive a total of Rp 200 million between them. However, on Dec. 5, 1994, the local government presented only Rp 100 million to the ten villages. No mention was made whether it was the first installment of the Rp 200 million or what happened to the remaining half.
In this context, a village chief asked me to enquire about the matter to the concerned authority and find out the true amount of aid allocated to the ten villages.
