AIA's new investment product

JAKARTA (JP): PT Asuransi AIA Indonesia, a unit of American International Group Inc. (AIG), launched AIA Invest on Wednesday, a new product offering life insurance policy holders various investment alternatives.

AIA Invest allows policy holders to select where their funds would be invested, Asuransi AIA Indonesia general manager Chris Lossin told a media conference to mark the company's 25th anniversary.

"They may choose to put their money either in long term fixed income investments such as bonds and time deposits, or in more volatile investments, including shares," Lossin said.

The new product gives policy holders more options and control over their funds, he said.

Assistant director for marketing and agency promotion Warsan Hendrata said since its soft launching in October, AIA Invest has enlisted 40 customers involving Rp 2.3 billion in premiums.

Approximately 85 percent of the money has been invested in time deposits, promissory notes, and bonds, while the remaining 15 percent has been directed to higher risk investments such as shares, Warsan said. (03)
