AI Technology Ushers in a New Era of Sophisticated State Financial Audits

In the era of digital transformation, the Supreme Audit Agency of the Republic of Indonesia (BPK RI) is strengthening its use of technology, including artificial intelligence (AI), to support the state financial audit process. Director of Information Technology at BPK RI, Pinky Dezar Zulkarnain, stated that modernisation and digital strengthening, which began in 1998, have evolved into a full digital transformation since 2020. This initiative aims to enhance the benefits of BPK audit results, making audits easier and facilitating the follow-up of findings. Each year, BPK must audit the financial reports of 542 regional governments and 89 central government entities, a task that digital transformation is making easier, more efficient, and more transparent. Furthermore, BPK is continuously strengthening cybersecurity within the financial audit process through international-standard security measures for its information systems, having achieved ISO 27001 certification. The agency has also established a Computer Security Incident Response Team (CSIRT), which is part of the national CSIRT network formed by the National Cyber and Crypto Agency (BSSN).
