AI Technology Helps Google Fix More Chrome Security Vulnerabilities

Google has announced that it has successfully patched more security vulnerabilities in the Chrome browser over the past month than the total number of fixes implemented during the previous two years, thanks to the utilisation of artificial intelligence (AI) technology.

According to a report from TechCrunch on Thursday (30/7) local time, Google revealed it has fixed 1,072 security vulnerabilities in the two latest versions of Chrome, namely Chrome 149 and Chrome 150, released in June 2026. This figure exceeds the total of 1,036 security vulnerabilities fixed across the 23 previous Chrome versions released over the last two years.

Google stated that the use of large language models (LLM) has contributed to accelerating the process of searching for and handling security vulnerabilities. “By implementing models such as Gemini, we can proactively fix vulnerabilities, stay ahead of threat actors, and make Chrome increasingly secure with every update,” said Doug.

According to Google, the increase in the number of identified vulnerabilities indicates that AI is now playing a vital role in helping security teams find flaws that were previously difficult to detect manually. A similar trend is occurring at Microsoft. Earlier this month, the company announced it had patched 570 security vulnerabilities across its various products in its monthly update, known as “Patch Tuesday,” with the assistance of AI.

Meanwhile, Apple has not yet shown a similar surge. Based on independent calculations, Apple has fixed 482 security vulnerabilities throughout 2026, a figure estimated to be roughly equal to or slightly exceeding the total fixes from last year, and relatively comparable to the number of vulnerabilities patched by the company in 2015.
