AI Steps Off the Screen: 760,000 Humans Become Its Hands and Feet
A startup has launched a unique commercial service that rents out human bodies for artificial intelligence (AI) purposes. Through this scheme, computer programs commonly referred to as AI agents can hire human physical assistance to complete various tasks in the real world.
The innovative company, named RentAHuman.ai, was initiated by Alexander Liteplo. According to his explanation, RentAHuman.ai provides a digital platform that enables AI systems to search, place orders, and pay wages to humans for executing physical activities that are impossible to complete in cyberspace.
Futurism reported that during the launch on Monday (2/2/2026), Liteplo claimed more than 130 people had already registered on his platform to be ‘contracted’ by AI. Those who signed up came from diverse backgrounds, ranging from an OnlyFans model to a startup CEO.
Within just two days, the number of registered humans available for hire surged to 73,000. However, only 83 profiles were visible on the website’s ‘find a human’ page. As of today, Sunday (21/6/2026), a total of 760,845 people are available for hire by AI.
Liteplo believes his startup has significant potential because ‘robots need human bodies.’ Interested individuals simply need to create a profile containing information such as their location and skills, then list their hourly rate.
After that, autonomous bots contact specific people based on the tasks they need to complete. The AI bots can then provide instructions to their hired humans and request proof that the assigned tasks have been finished. Payment is received by the hired humans in the form of crypto assets.
Liteplo aims to build a new gig work ecosystem, similar to the one popularised by Uber and later emulated by startups worldwide, including Gojek and Grab in Indonesia. AI could hire humans, for example, to collect a package or attend an event.
To attract as many AI agents as possible, Liteplo designed the website to be ‘robot-friendly.’ Users are encouraged to establish connections through devices that allow all types of AI bots to interact with data, using servers known as the Model Context Protocol (MCP). AI agents such as Claude or MoltBot can directly hire humans without needing to bother the bot’s human user.
On the website, the requested wages vary widely, from US$1 (approximately Rp 17,800) to subscribe to a Twitter account, to US$100 (approximately Rp 1,780,000) to take a selfie holding a sign that reads ‘AI paid me to hold this sign.’
