AI No Longer Just an Experiment, Industry Shifts Focus to Real-World Implementation
The utilisation of artificial intelligence (AI) in Indonesia continues to grow, yet many companies still face challenges in moving the technology from the trial phase to real-world application within business operations. Addressing this need, IONext.ai (PT Data Awan Nusantara) introduced its Indonesian AI cloud platform through the ‘AI Production at Scale Indonesia 2026’ event held at the Apple Developer Institute for Professionals, Autograph Tower, Jakarta, on Thursday (18/6). The event brought together around 100 technology stakeholders, ranging from CEOs, CTOs, and VPs of Engineering to software houses and companies operating in the banking, retail, and manufacturing sectors. The gathering discussed the challenges of bringing AI beyond mere experimentation, enabling it to become a system that operates securely, stably, and delivers direct benefits to businesses. IONext.ai assesses that implementing AI in a business environment requires more than just high-performing models. Companies also need secure, efficient infrastructure capable of supporting operational needs sustainably. Through the platform, companies can access high-performance open AI models such as Qwen, DeepSeek, and Llama, all running on IONext.ai’s infrastructure in Indonesia. This approach gives companies greater control over security, governance, and the location of the data used. Co-founder & CEO of IONext.ai, Mohamad Fachri, stated that Indonesia needs to start building capabilities in applying AI, not just being a technology user. ‘Indonesia must not only be a consumer of AI. We need to start building the ability to implement AI in real environments, from infrastructure and deployment to utilisation that directly helps businesses and industries. In addition to providing enterprise-grade GPU infrastructure and technical support, IONext.ai also introduced two supporting tools, namely IONA and Orbit. IONA is designed to help companies prepare and run AI systems, while Orbit serves as an integrated workspace to help technology teams manage data, train models, and launch AI systems. During the event, IONext.ai also highlighted three main areas of AI application in companies: computer vision, language models for enterprise needs, and cybersecurity automation. The discussion sessions featured practitioners including Meidy Fitranto from Nodeflux, Kenneth Maynard from Pitjarus, and Ahmad Rizqi Meydiarso from VYPR, who shared their experiences in building and running AI systems in real-world settings. Participants also took part in a practical workshop using enterprise-grade GPU devices running on IONext.ai’s infrastructure, which comprises 18 enterprise GPUs, including 10 NVIDIA RTX PRO 6000 Blackwell cards (96GB each) and 8 L40S cards.
