AI Google NotebookLM Now Lets You Turn Research Materials into Cinematic Video
Google has enhanced the capabilities of its AI-powered learning platform NotebookLM with a new feature called Cinematic Video Overviews. The feature enables users to transform research material into more immersive and easily digestible videos with the help of AI technology.
Prior to Cinematic Video Overviews’ release, NotebookLM was known for Audio Overviews and Video Overviews. Audio Overviews present material as a narrative dialogue resembling a podcast between two AI hosts, while Video Overviews add visual elements in the form of animations to help explain the topic being studied.
Google says Cinematic Video Overviews differs from Video Overviews. The feature is supported by a new combination of Google’s most advanced models to create videos that are tailored and immersive from sources provided by users.
In this feature, Gemini acts as a kind of ‘director’ who determines the storyline, visual style, and video format based on the research sources entered by the user. The AI model is also tasked with structural decisions and visual style to convey the story from the cited sources. Therefore, Gemini AI plays a crucial role in determining narrative, visual style, and video format, and even refining its own output to ensure material consistency.
Meanwhile, Nano Banana Pro is used to create visual assets that depict the research material. After that, Veo 3 integrates all the elements into a more lifelike animated video.
It is not yet known when Cinematic Video Overviews will be rolled out to other regions or become available to users on lower-tier subscription plans.
The feature will be accessible via web and mobile devices, according to KompasTekno’s reporting from AndroidPolice.
