JAKARTA, KOMPAS.com - Jakarta Governor Pramono Anung has emphasised that anyone manipulating photos of citizen complaint handling via the JAKI application must face firm punishment.

The statement was made by Pramono in response to allegations of manipulation in handling reports of illegal parking in East Jakarta, suspected to involve artificial intelligence (AI) technology.

“Anyone at fault must be punished,” Pramono said when met in central Jakarta on Monday (6/4/2026).

“I have asked the Inspectorate to examine whether it was the lurah, the Lurah of Kalisari, or the Kasudin,” Pramono stated.

He stressed that manipulating reports cannot be tolerated as it harms the principle of transparency in governance.

According to him, public trust must be maintained through openness in every process of handling citizen complaints.

Pramono issued a warning to prevent similar incidents in the future.

“And this must not happen again, because for the Jakarta government, transparency is a crucial matter,” Pramono said.

Pramono also strongly criticised the practice of falsifying reports using AI technology, especially if used to cover up unfinished work.

“It’s better, for example, if it’s not finished, just say it’s not finished rather than using AI, which essentially is deceitful. I have asked the Inspectorate to impose sanctions for that,” he continued.

Previously, a netizen complained about illegal parking on residential streets in Pasar Rebo, East Jakarta.

The owner of the Threads account @seinsh stated that residents had reported the illegal parking issue up to the kelurahan level.

Residents also reported it via the JAKI application. However, the report was said to remain unresolved.

The complainant also claimed to have received follow-up evidence that was allegedly manipulated using AI.

“How to handle illegal parking on kelurahan roads? Residents protested directly to the perpetrators without success, reported to the kelurahan level without resolution, tried reporting via JAKI but got fake evidence from AI edits,” he wrote in the post.
