AI Can Help Boost Productivity in Small Industries

Jakarta (ANTARA) - Deputy for Digital Creativity and Technology at the Ministry of Creative Economy, Muhammad Neil El Himam, stated that the use of artificial intelligence (AI) technology can serve as a tool to increase productivity for creative economy actors in small industries or those involved in SMEs.

“For production, small industries, including production, can be assisted by AI, from the supply chain, basic material needs to additional requirements, and even logistics can be helped by AI,” said Neil during a discussion at the launch of the Badan Ekraf Digital Talent (BDT) 2026 programme in Jakarta on Tuesday.

Neil said that implementing artificial intelligence technology even in small industries is important to learn and improve in order to make work easier and boost productivity.

Neil added that learning AI development, besides utilising existing designs better, small industries in the technology sector can also create AI tools that can be used by other business actors to simplify production and work.

“Well, this is for friends who are now, later, the developers to develop the level of small industries. Unless these small industries are developing applications, it might also be important in my opinion to increase productivity,” he said.

This year, BDT will also provide additional material on cyber security, where developers will be taught security aspects in application development as a foundation for rapid AI implementation.

“Well, that’s what’s being focused on now because learning programming is easier, becoming a developer is easier with AI, but security points must also be considered, especially for small industries,” said Tri.
