The development of artificial intelligence (AI) is increasingly affecting various aspects of people’s lives, from the way they work and learn to how they manage finances. Amidst rapid digital transformation, mastery of AI is considered one of the important skills that the younger generation needs to possess. Indonesia is currently entering a period of demographic bonus, dominated by a productive-age population. At the same time, the use of AI technology continues to expand and is beginning to change patterns of decision-making, including in investment activities and personal financial management. President Director & CEO of PT Indo Premier Sekuritas, Moleonoto The, said AI can no longer be viewed as a future technology because it has become part of daily life. “AI is no longer a future technology. AI has become a new infrastructure that is changing the way humans work, learn, communicate, invest, and even make decisions in everyday life,” Moleonoto said in a statement on Tuesday (9/6/2026). According to him, the challenge facing the younger generation today is not only mastering technology but also being able to utilise it productively. Amidst the flood of digital information, young people are also vulnerable to various risks such as cyber fraud, the fear of missing out (FOMO) phenomenon, and online gambling. Therefore, financial literacy and technological literacy are deemed to need to go hand in hand. Without adequate understanding, the younger generation risks becoming mere users of technology without gaining optimal economic benefits. In line with these developments, a number of financial industry players have begun integrating AI into their services. This technology is being used to help users obtain information faster, analyse data, and make more measured decisions. Moleonoto believes AI should be viewed as a tool to improve the quality of life decisions, not a threat that will replace the human role. “National economic transformation does not start from stocks or trading, but from a way of thinking. AI must be a means of improving the quality of life decisions and financial protection,” he stated. With its increasingly rapid development, the ability to understand AI is expected to become one of the important factors determining the competitiveness of the younger generation in the digital economy era.
