AI-Based Smartboard Technology from ASIX Drives Education Digitalisation
Jakarta — PT ASIX Indonesia Cerdas (ASIX) has entered into a collaboration with Promethean EDXIS, a provider of educational technology, to accelerate the digitalisation of education in Indonesia. The partnership, which began in June 2025, is aimed at delivering a more modern and integrated digital learning system across schools. Through the collaboration, the two companies will deploy educational smartboard devices equipped with artificial intelligence (AI). The devices are designed to support teaching and learning in classrooms and can connect with various digital devices such as student tablets and laptops.
Beyond digital learning devices, the system being developed will include security features for use in school environments. The technology enables schools to monitor digital activities deemed at risk, including indicators of bullying, violence, and other safety threats during use of the learning devices.
Promethean EDXIS also brings an integrated digital learning ecosystem covering classroom collaboration software, device management systems, and a content storage server accessible offline. This model is particularly important for schools in areas with limited internet access.
Andrie Tjioe, CEO and President Director of ASIX, said that the use of AI in the education sector cannot be limited to merely providing technology devices; it must also deliver tangible benefits for teachers and students. Therefore, the development of digital education solutions, in his view, must be accompanied by support for teacher capacity and easy access to learning.
“Collaboration with Promethean EDXIS is one of ASIX’s steps to strengthen our AI Education pillar, bringing technology that can support the transformation of learning in Indonesia. We believe that AI utilisation in education must not only provide digital devices but also deliver real impact for teachers and students,” Andrie Tjioe said in a media statement on Wednesday, 20 May 2026.
Promethean EDXIS has experience implementing educational technology in various countries. The company claims its technology has been used in more than 190 countries and territories, with reach in over two million classrooms worldwide. This experience was among the considerations for the collaboration to develop Indonesia’s digital learning system.
Going forward, the implementation of smart classrooms is expected to be rolled out gradually in a number of Indonesian schools. In addition to supporting national digitalisation of education, development of an AI-based learning ecosystem is also hoped to expand access to quality education and improve the digital capabilities of teachers and students across the country.
