AI Adoption Essential Across All Sectors, Says Investment Minister Rosan Roeslani
JAKARTA, investor.id – Minister of Downstreaming and Investment/Head of the Investment Coordinating Board (BKPM) Rosan Roeslani stated that the use of artificial intelligence (AI) is a necessity across all sectors of life.
"AI technology is an absolute necessity, not only in the mining sector but in every sector of our lives," said Rosan after attending the Indonesia AI Day for Mining Industry 2025 at the Kempinski Grand Ballroom, Central Jakarta, on Thursday (24/4/2025).
Rosan, who also serves as CEO of Daya Anggota Nusantara (Danantara), stated that AI technology makes work more efficient, increases productivity, creates jobs, and generates high competitiveness. This would improve Indonesia's quality and enhance its economic role going forward.
According to him, there is already significant technology investment flowing into Indonesia. Consequently, the government's homework is to bring human resources closer to properly understanding the use of AI.
On the other hand, Rosan noted that the Indonesia AI Day for Mining Industry 2025 provided enlightenment on the importance of AI, particularly in the mining sector. The mining sector is playing an increasingly important role in Indonesia in creating jobs and contributing to Gross Domestic Product (GDP).
The Indonesia AI Day for Mining Industry 2025, initiated by Indosat, provided a space for collaboration, knowledge sharing, and forging partnerships between mining industry leaders, leading technology providers, and government agencies that play a role in supporting digital transformation in Indonesia.
Indosat, as the main organiser, also served as a driving force in introducing AI-based solutions and advanced connectivity that can be used to modernise mining processes.
Also in attendance were the President Director and CEO of Indosat Ooredoo Hutchison, Vikram Sinha; Deputy Minister of Communications and Digital Nezar Patria; and former Minister of Trade (2016–2019) and Executive Chairman of B-Universe, Enggartiasto Lukita.
