Currently, the approach to development for countries aiming for progress and sustainability includes aspects of green infrastructure or green development that can be promoted and jointly managed. This means building while adapting to climate change and global warming, including addressing environmental impacts caused by natural resource exploitation,” said AHY after a series of events socialising the Patriot Transmigration program at Bundaran HI, Central Jakarta, Sunday (17/05/2026).

AHY stressed that economic development must not damage the environment. He affirmed that there are laws regulating the exploration and extraction of mineral resources.

“This is a mandate that we must jointly uphold. Economic development should not come at the expense of environmental destruction. Therefore, if there is exploration and extraction of mineral resources in our land, it must not be done arbitrarily or carelessly. There are laws, regulations, and rules that apply, and they must be enforced fairly for all,” he said.

AHY stated that a damaged and destroyed environment leads to natural disasters. He mentioned that the communities around the affected areas are the most impacted victims.

“It has been proven that a damaged and destroyed environment causes natural disasters. And those who suffer the most, who are most affected and become victims are certainly the people in the surrounding area. It is not fair for anyone to exploit nature to extract natural resources while neglecting the environment, damaging the earth,” he explained.

AHY hopes that the central government and regional governments can have a common goal so that they do not leave behind disasters in the future.

“This is indeed not always easy, but it requires creating a good balance, and the central government and regional governments must be united. Everyone wants to progress and grow, but we must not leave behind disasters for our children and grandchildren. I think that’s what we can do, including the Ministry of Transmigration,” he added.
